The fifth one in history: an International Court established for Al-hariri assassination case.
English
After three
rounds of negotiations, Lebanese judges and the UNagreed on the final form of
the International court wanted for Al-hariri assassination case. The court
agreed on is a mixed on composed of Lebanese and foreign judges, the court is
based outsideLebanon, but it observes the Lebanese laws except for the death
penalty that the UN doesn't allow.
The final
formulae observed by this court will be determined in the agreement between the
Lebanese Government and the UN, and establishing the court will not take more
than few weeks, press sources said.
Abood
Al-sarraj, Penalties professor in Damascus University, and one of the lawyers
who accompanied Syrian officials to Vienna, told "Syria
News" that establishing the court doesn't necessarily mean that there are
evidence or accused.
Selecting
the court members is a long and laborious process, for it takes many factors in
consideration such as, the geographic factor and the nature of the case
presented. These factors made it necessary to start considering the court early,
so that it would be ready when investigations are done, Al-saraj added.
